Considering Boating? 4 Boat Accessories to Kick Off a Great New Hobby

If you are thinking of making boating a new hobby, you will be excited at all you can do and see with this pastime. Boating as a hobby is a delightful one, but you have to be aware that it can be an intimidating undertaking if you want to own and maintain a proper boat. However, it is so appealing to be out on the open water or resurrect the fond memories that you have had if you were the recipient of the many amenities that boating provides.

The boat you get or rent will come in a different style depending on what you want to do with it. If you just want a workout, choose a kayak. If you are interested in water sports or fishing or navigating a sailboat, use a boat appropriate for those activities. If you want to spend multiple days out on the water, consider a houseboat or a yacht.

If you own your boat, there are accessories that are necessary or desired. Four of those boat accessories are the following.

Anchoring Systems

Always be prepared when on the water. You never know when and where you might decide to drop the anchor and fish or join in the fun of a clambake. You can choose from high-quality and reliable galvanized to vinyl-coated or stainless steel, fluke-style to grappling, or any other favorite anchor and winch. Some anchor winches are designed to manually handle a rope and chain combination on vessels up to 65 feet in length. An automatic windlass will effortlessly retrieve and deploy a combination chain/rope anchor.

Ignition protected Vetus thrusters

Vetus thrusters are electric thrusters with ignition protected and watertight motor housing. They are for use in gasoline engine vessels ranging from 16 to 60 feet. Extended run time thrusters have an electric motor that can be continuously run for longer periods for more demanding applications in vessels from 36 to 75 feet. Stern thrusters provide even greater maneuverability and are available in ignition protected, electric hydraulic, and extended run time.

Remote Controls

Electric remote control panels are used for the operation of extended run time stern and bow thrusters, hydraulic steering systems, anchor windlasses, and more. Wireless remote controls are for electrically-driven equipment and “on-off” devices but not proportionally-controlled devices, so are ideal for solenoid-actuated thrusters and windlasses, ignition protected thrusters, extended run time thrusters, and non-proportional hydraulic thrusters.

Freshwater filters

Install a marine water filter system to improve the quality of the drinking water. That helps reduce contaminants such as sediments, chlorine, silt, rust and algae and provides odor-free, clear, and good-tasting water directly from the tap.

Do as much research as you can and then take advantage of speaking to a reliable local dealer’s team. They will give you the necessary knowledge that can guide you toward the boat and accessories that will be exactly what you require and dream about.
